Hopefully these will give an idea of what I could bring to your event. Over the next few months I will endeavour to bring over all these blogs, for the time being here’s a couple.

Wedding Magician Somerset

On Friday night I was hired to perform at St Auders Park, West Quantoxhead, Somerset at a pre wedding dinner for the bride and grooms close family and friends. The dinner took place the night before the wedding in a cottage within St Auders Park. The original plan had been to perform my dinner show throughout the meal, split into three acts between courses but when I arrived things were running very late and it was decided my show would go on too late. Lucky I come prepared for any eventuality and decided I would start the evening performing close up magic and mind reading for the guests as they ate and drank. I would then perform a more formal show for 20 minutes after the main course had been cleared. This worked out perfectly for the event as it created a very relaxed atmosphere which gave me the chance to get to know all the audience before the show part where I could pick the ideal volunteers for reading minds and using suggestion and influence to apear to be able to predict the future. The picture to the right shows me playing Russian Roulette with Staple guns (one is loaded by the audience member, three more guns are empty, I choose the guns and fire the first three against my face, the last un-chosen gun is loaded, not to be recommended!)

Whilst the majority of my work is probably for corporate events, in Somerset I seem to generally perform at weddings. I think this is because there are so many stunning wedding venues in this county. Yesterday I had the pleasure of performing at one of the most beautiful, North Cadbury Court.

It was one of the first hot days of the year so the wedding took place outside by the lake. I performed immediately after the ceremony during the drinks reception. They had made the very sensible decision not to have hours of photos after the ceremony so the bride and groom could get on with enjoying their day. So many weddings I go to the poor bride and groom and dragged about by the photographer, never to have a moment to enjoy themselves. This was a really casual, relaxed affair, also down by the lakeside. I mixed and mingles with the guests for about 3 hours reading minds and performing my style of contemporary magic. I would perform for small groups at a time, giving each group a ten minute routine. After a while people knew I was there so I was called over to various groups and eventually a big group gathered around me so I decided to perform a special one off routine with the bride and groom for everyone to watch. This is a piece I take from my cabaret show that demonstrates the love and bond between two people. A really powerful and memorable routine that is one of my favourites to perform.

It was a really fun afternoon. Often when I’m enjoying myself as much as I did at this one I will stay later but unfortunately I had another booking to get to in Bournemouth so had to leave. Corporate Magician Somerset

On Tuesday evening I was in the lovely town of Frome, Somerset performing at an event for Frome Rotary club at the Cheese and Grain Cafe. The event was to bring new members into the rotary club with me as the entertainment. I started about 7.30 performing close up magic and mind reading as people met for drinks. At this point I kept things very casual, mixing and mingling with small groups of about 4 to 5 people, each group would see a short routine, about 10 minutes, which incorporated my trademark psychological illusion and mind reading. After performing close up for about an hour and a half I performed a short cabaret show for everyone to watch. This show was about 20 minutes long. I used the club chairman and another senior member in the show and performed a number of my larger routines, adapted from my full stage show on a slightly smaller scale so it can be performed without a stage. I ended on a brand new routine, always nerve wracking, and was as surprised as the audience when it worked! After the show I was meant to leave but people were asking me to see more so I performed a little more close up magic for a number of people before finally leaving at about 10pm.
