Wedding Magician Oxfordshire
Last Saturday afternoon I had the pleasure of performing at a fantastic wedding somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Oxfordshire. This was a rustic, outdoor wedding in a field on a farm. Didn’t have a clue where I was, if someone had taken away my sat-nav I’d never have made it home! This is one of my favourite types of wedding to perform at, very relaxed and informal. I was booked to perform for 2 hours but ended up staying for closer to 3. I was performing during the drinks reception and spent the time mixing with the guests performing for small groups at a time. As a finale I performed a routine with the bride and groom (pictures below), this is always a very memorable way to end a performance.

Last week I had the pleasure to be booked to perform close up magic at Oxford Brooks university as part of the challenging assumptions event organised by the students. I’ve performed at many Universities throughout Oxfordshire and the UK over the years but this was a little different as the event was part of the students university course and they would be marked on the overall success of the evening. I performed close up magic during the drinks reception and a dinner for paying guests. At the end of the evening I performed a brief show for the guests. The purpose of the event was “challenging assumptions” so I performed feats of mental magic to disprove the impossibility of mind reading.
The whole evening was a huge success and a lot of fun to perform at. Here’s what the event organiser had to say:

Mix and mingle magician Oxfordshire
On Sunday afternoon I was hired to perform at the Cherwell Boathouse just outside of Oxford. The event was for the boathouses 50th Anniversary. I’ve performed here a number of times over the years and the event manager at the venue who had seen me perform before very kindly booked me for this event. It was a very relaxed affair, taking place outside by the river, thankfully the weather was good enough. The had a live jazz band playing and people were casually eating and drinking in the stunning grounds of the boathouse. I was hired to perform from 3pm to 5pm although ended up staying until about 6pm. Throughout this time I casually mixed and mingled with the guests, a few hundred people in total, performing short routines for each group. For the first 30 minutes or so it was a case of me approaching people but after a while people learnt I was there so I soon had a group around me and others coming over to see something or asking if I’ll join there group next. At events of this nature I always like to keep things fairly simple, sticking to some of my more straightforward mind reading routines, my favourite being asking someone to draw a picture and trying to reproduce the picture, very pleased I had an almost 100% success rate!

Corporate magician Oxfordshire
A super busy week last week with 7 shows in all, 5 in 3 days. I started off in Abingdon performing at a corporate event at the Milton Hill house. The event was for RM education, they’d had a day long conference and were ending things with drinks and a close up performance from myself. The idea had been to have it in the grounds of the hotel but the weather was awful so we stayed in doors. Most people were seated at tables so I made my way around the group, about 100 people performing a small intimate show for each table. Here’s a typical routine. I always start with a warm up, I ask someone to think of a number between 1 and 6, I then tell them the number they are thinking of. No mind reading here, pure psychology as there are certain numbers people always think of and I simply influence them to go for those. Next I move things up a notch. I give a couple of people dice and ask them to roll them (a few times so they know they’re not loaded!). They remember the last number, and I tell them the numbers they’re thinking of, this is mind reading as there’s no way I can influence the roll of a dice. Finally I may ask someone to draw a picture, avoiding the obvious choices like houses and stickmen. I then attempt to duplicate their drawings! Managed to get them all right which I was very pleased about. This is a standard routine and there always added elements to it to make a performance unique for each group. On an average night performing close up I may perform up to 50 times and will generally work between 6 or 7 different routines. At the end of the night I performed a piece from my cabaret show for everyone to watch. I used a couple of the company managers for this. A routine I created for corporate events that shows the strength of the company and it’s employees in an unforgettable and magical way. Here’s what the client had to say in an email the following day:
“I would just like to say I was extremely impressed with what you do and how you performed with everyone. Everybody loved it! I wasn’t sure I wanted this kind of performance at the event as I’m suspicious and thought I would see what you did etc. But I couldn’t see a thing and am slightly blown away. Will definitely give great feedback on your page and recommend you to others, also keeping my card with the queen of diamonds on it!”
