A possible over reaction to the current crisis!

About two years ago I was asked by a well known international IT corporation if it would be possible to perform an online mind reading show at a  conference for their directors that would be taking place virtually at eight different locations throughout the world. This was a huge challenge and something I’d never considered before. The main issue was that the style of magic I perform, known as mentalism, relies on psychology and suggestion to read a person and generally that person needs to be in the same room and preferably standing directly in front of me. I spent the next couple of months creating a show and ultimately it was a huge success which resulted in me being hired by the same company to perform, so far, a further six shows in person at their offices throughout the world. At the time I thought it was a shame that a show I’d worked so hard on would probably never be performed again. How wrong I was! Come March of 2020 and the terrible Coronavirus pandemic. Within weeks all my shows for the next three months were cancelled and I could foresee myself not performing again for the rest of the year. Still I felt my situation was no where near as bad as for many others. I was healthy, I had savings to live off and in all honesty I’m a bit of a hermit at the best of times! The idea of performing a virtual magic show crossed my mind but before I had a chance to think about the best way to advertise it I was contacted by a previous corporate client asking if there was any way I could perform an online show for their staff at home. Realising I had a show written and ready to go I immediately said yes. The only issue I had was how I could connect with 40 people in 40 different locations. The client introduced me to Zoom, having never heard of it before, and I was good to go. I spent a week tweaking my show and rehearsing like mad (a huge thanks to friends and family for spending hours with me online practicing, they probably saw more of me that week than they do in a normal year). The show was a massive success and this one performance led to, at this point, another 30 shows. Over the last few months I have performed for private parties with just a few guests, family groups, corporate meetings and a group of care homes.

“Exceptionally clever! Completely gobsmacked and lost for words, which is unheard of! Edward is charming and personable and made be feel completely at ease. Online mind reading at its best I’d say!”

The environment I’m more used to working in. I miss it so much!

Virtual Magic Show

The thing I really want to stress here is that this show hasn’t just been thrown together in a couple of weeks to take advantage of the present situation. This show has existed for years and is constantly being improved upon. I have always felt that the only way to witness the true entertainment and, at times, art, of magic and mind reading is close up and in person. Television magic is often faked and sadly many are using camera trickery for online magic shows. My aim whilst creating this show was to offer the exact same performance you would see in the real world. No crappy card tricks that wouldn’t fool a child and no hands quickly going out of shot whilst I get up to no good. In this show I will read your mind and predict your behaviour using influence and suggestion in the exact same way as when you see me perform in the real world. As with any show I write there is a narrative running throughout so it offers a stage show experience, interlaced with dry humour, audience participation and interaction throughout and some of the most astonishing moments of mental magic you will ever witness.

“A massive THANK YOU for last night. You were absolutely brilliant”

Zoom Magic Show

Whilst Zoom seems to be the most popular way to perform this show it can also be performed over Skype, Google hangouts, Microsoft teams and pretty much any other format that I may yet have heard of. If you’re unsure of how to use this software I can talk you through how to download it and work with it. Trust me if a Luddite like me can work it so can you.

Q&A

How much does a performance cost?

I’m keeping costs at an absolute minimum. I don’t see this as a way of making money but as a way of advertising myself and hopefully when the world is back to normal people will book me for a real world show. If nothing else it gives me a reason to put on clothes, shave and comb my hair a couple of times each week. Some shows I’ve done such as for care homes have been for free. For the average private show I’m charging between £50 to £75. For a corporate show I’m charging between £75 to £150

How long is the show?

Between 30 minutes to 45 minutes depending upon requirements

The rest of your website is really pretty, filled with pictures and videos. Why is there none of that here?

Glad you noticed! Truth is I have someone who built my site for me who manages everything (I’m a complete moron when it comes to this sort of thing). Unfortunately he has been laid low with the dreaded virus (but is on the mend). Therefore I’m stuck creating this page myself. I have no idea how to put in photos or video, you can find video of me performing in the real world HERE. So for the time being you’re stuck with my mindless, unedited ramblings. In a couple of weeks I’ll hopefully have that rectified. UPDATE – I’ve figured out how to get a couple of pictures on here, still working on video. In the mean time get in touch if you want more details. Contact page can be found HERE. UPDATE 2. As you can probably see I’ve managed to put a really out of focus video up, something of better quality will be on its way soon.

Who is Edward?

More details can be found HERE

Tell me more about Edward’s performances at corporate events?

This ones just a cheap excuse to put up a link to my corporate page. I doubt anyone is asking that question but HERE’S the link

How interactive is the show?

Very. Some parts involve everyone and some 2 or 3 people at a time. No matter how many people watching you will be involved!

Got any reviews?

Yup, they can be found HERE or on my FACEBOOK page.

How many people can watch?

As many or as few as you like. I’ve done the show for just 2 people up to about 75. As long as they have access to a computer screen they can watch and no worries about having someone really tall wearing a top hat  (people wear those right? I haven’t been out in a long time, I forget), sitting in front of you.

What will I see in the show?

The easiest answer is mind reading. This is what I specialise in, using psychology and suggestion I will read your minds and influence your decisions. This isn’t a magic show masquerading as a mind reading show. Watch this show and experience the most genuine form of mind reading you will ever witness.

What ages is the show suitable for?

So I’m an adult performer but this particular show is suitable for all ages, some elements just may be a little confusing for younger viewers.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

I’ll ask everyone watching to bring a coin with them (any denomination). For my longer show I may ask people to bring a pendulum. Whats a pendulum I hear you ask? Don’t worry you can make one within minutes with household objects and I’ll talk you through the process.

Is this just a corporate online magic show?

Whilst the majority of my shows have been for corporate events and team meetings this is just as suitable for groups of families and friends.

OK, that’s enough of my mindless ramblings, seriously I need someone to edit this for me. Get in touch if you want more details. I hope to virtually see a few of you soon. Take care and stay well.
